Kineara is launching the Kineara Pathways Employment Project, a new employment support service funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
For people facing housing insecurity, poverty and isolation, barriers like gaps in experience, limited digital access, language needs or a lack of confidence can make employment feel out of reach, and without stable work it becomes harder to move out of crisis.
At Kineara, we see how closely housing, health and employment are linked. The Employment Pathways Project aims to address the interconnected vulnerabilities surrounding homelessness by creating a structured employment support offer for Kineara clients. The project, funded by National Lottery Community Fund, will help individuals overcome barriers to work, improve their employability and progress towards sustainable employment, training or other appropriate career pathways.
The service will combine 1:1 employment support, workshops and partnership referrals, with support tailored to each person’s needs and goals.
Depending on the individual, support may include help with CVs, cover letters and job applications, job searching and identifying suitable vacancies, and interview preparation and employability skills. It can also cover digital skills and access to online job-search tools, as well as training, qualifications, ESOL and skills development. For those who need it, the project can help people find work experience, volunteering and apprenticeship opportunities, and identify and address practical barriers to employment. The service also includes support with confidence, wellbeing and job-readiness, along with help to move into employment and to sustain it.
The project builds on Kineara’s commitment to holistic, wrap around support that is available and accessible to people facing multiple or complex vulnerabilities. It is designed to sit alongside our existing housing services, so that clients can access employment support as part of Kineara’s wider support offer.
“Homelessness rarely occurs in isolation. It is almost always connected to other issues and unemployment is a big one. By bringing practical, personalised support for employment, we want to ensure people are supported to rebuild their independence, confidence and long-term stability. This service is meant to support the communities we serve and we are also extending it to anyone who needs it. Working alongside our housing services, this project is another step towards making sure our clients receive support centred around their individual needs. The project is designed to help people remain in their homes and prevent homelessness, while supporting those who need to move into more suitable accommodation. Through holistic support, the project will increase household income, improve financial stability, sustain tenancies, reduce social isolation, strengthen community connections, and enhance opportunities for employment, education, training, and long-term independence.”
– Maria Morgan, Founder, Kineara
While the service is designed with Kineara clients in mind, it is also open to anyone who needs employment support. The service is open to clients from 7th October 2026.
